Spring Sing
Georgie's school takes spring break quite a bit later than most other schools. On the last day of school they had a little party (nothing big, just a special snack and cute plates, etc) but the big event is the Spring Sing. The kids work on the songs and movements for weeks leading up to the big day. They must really build this up because Georgie at least was fairly bursting with excitement. A couple of days before the sing she advised Bobby and I separately of her expectations for the day: Daddy was to bring her flowers and then afterward we were to go to lunch! She didn't say it in a snotty way just very matter of factly as if everyone and anyone would know that this is the way that things would be. So funny! So cute.
Daddy came through with the flowers :-) and lunch out at Chipotle seemed to make her happy.

Yee-haw!!
A western themed family night at school gave us the perfect opportunity to pull out those pink cowgirl boots and rhinestoned, sequined, light up, tiara hat :-)
It was a fun evening for all involved. How could you go wrong with BBQ ribs, Farrell's ice cream, pony rides and tons of friends to enjoy it with?
Just to be clear, this is G's "yeehaw cowgirl" pose.

Easter fun at school
Georgie had a fun little party at school. My girl loves an egg hunt!
The following day we met Mr E. Bunny himself at the local mall. They had lots of activities: a cute little croquet thing, hula hoops, a small craft, etc. Georgie loved it! I was most impressed by the balloon sculptures... cool, huh?

St. Patrick's Day
Georgie's school does St Patty's Day in a super big way. I'm not sure why its such a big deal there, it doesn't seem to be anywhere else, but it is. In the weeks leading up to the green day they talk about leprechauns, read stories about them, they wonder about where they live and what they eat. The kids design and build traps baited with chocolate and then write sentences about what they'd do with the leprechaun if they caught one. Its complex. Then, on the big day, as the kids are enjoying chapel.... wouldn't you know, the leprechauns arrive! They toss over chairs and knock books off of shelves and pull nap mats out of cubbies. Darn those crazy little guys. And, everyone knows it was the leprechauns because they leave tell tale signs: little green footprints on the floor and even a wee green hat :-)
Its very exciting! and loud!! Its hard to describe the commotion caused as the kids run in and out and all about in search of the little fellas.
The cuteness is unbelievable!

CNY Preschool style
Georgie's school always makes a big deal out of Chinese New Year. G loves it, of course. We were lucky with the weather this year... it was a classically beautiful SoCal day. Most of the kids dressed in traditional Chinese clothing, songs were sung, there was a lion dance and, to top it all off, lots of yummy food! It was a nice day.

100 Days of School
Georgie's teacher must have built the kids up a lot for this day because G was thrilled! All the children got a tshirt that they were to decorate with 100 of any item/items. G chose wiggly eyes. Pretty cute!
Every week, each student in G's class has a job. G's favorites are line leader and gate holder. I understand why a child would like to be at the head of the line, its completely lost on my why holding the gate open would be fun.
I thought the 100 snack --a pretzel and 2 bagel halves --was adorable!

Sweet & Sassy
One of the moms from G's preschool organized a fundraiser at one of those "tea"/dress up places that have become so popular. We'd actually gone to this same place last year with a friend and had a great time. This was a bit different because it was a larger group. It was a little chaotic but G had tons of fun choosing a purple dress (of course!), getting made up, doing her modeling walk (holding hands with a friend) and then eating little sandwiches and a mini cupcake.
This one put the "fun" in fundraiser ;-)

Preschool Holiday Party and Sing
The holiday sing at G's school is one of the cutest things they do. All the kids in their holiday wear, up on the stage, singing their little hearts out. Adorable!!! Yes, I get there super early and grab a dead center front row spot... I'm totally THAT mom :-) I can't help it. They're all so cute and G is really into it. Just like last year, after each song she'd look directly at Bobby and me with this HUGE smile plastered to her face. Sweet girl.
The other great thing is that after a quick holiday-themed snack and about a dozen mixed holiday (Christmas, Hanukkah, etc) songs, vacation would officially begin. Yippee!!!
I just love Gs teacher this year. Mrs Martino has been awesome!

How cute is that enormous bow on Gs head?? I gave her a choice of that one or something much more reasonably sized and she chose the huge one without a second's hesitation.

There are about 50 or so kids in Gs school every single one of whom was wearing red, green, and black/grey except G. No worries! She was very easy to spot in her pink Cindy Lou Who set.

G was thrilled that we won one of the raffle baskets. I was hoping for the "Spa" basket but G was happy we ended up with "movie night" instead. Yes, that entire basket was filled with candy, popcorn and DVDs of kids movies.

This was our last preschool holiday program. Next year G will be going to kindergarten which means an entirely different experience. I have mixed emotions. Sigh, can't she just stay little forever??

Santa again??
Is it me or is Santa every freaking where this year? G's preschool did their Santa visit fundraiser again this year giving G yet another opportunity to interview the big, red man. This time G asked what kind of cookies he liked, "Oreos", who was his favorite reindeer, "Rudolph, of course" and finally how many elves are there, "lots".
With all our visits I've been given significant opportunity to compare and contrast the strengths and weaknesses of each Santa. I've become quite the "Santa connoisseur" so to say. This one looked great but had zero personality. Some others have been personable but not necessarily visually convincing :-) The funny thing is, G doesn't seem to notice that all the Santas look different or are different people. She just sees Santa... adorable!
There has been no diversion from her wish list: violin, "Spring" doll from the Pottery Barn catalog, and a globe. I have absolutely no idea where the violin thing came from. We don't have one in the house and I don't think she even knows anyone who plays or owns one. I asked her about it but she wasn't able to verbalize the root of this desire. The globe I get. We talk a lot about other countries and other states but in her mind she hasn't sorted out what those terms mean (not shocking I know, she's only 4!). I keep telling her I'll show her on a map or a globe but I never do... slacker mama.
I keep expecting that G will catch on to the Santa thing. She knows that all characters at Disney, etc are fake. You'd think she'd be suspect of anyone in a costume but, no, nothing yet. Four is a beautiful age for fantasy, magic and wonder.

Preschool Feast
At G's school. So cute! All the kids wore their Thanksgiving craft hats. G was so adorable in hers I could hardly stand it. The look of pride when she put her little turkey hat on her head was absolutely priceless. Then all the kids sang their little Tgiving songs for the crowd of camera wielding mamarazzi. G's favorite (which she's been practicing for a few weeks) was "Five Fat Turkeys Are We".
Fun morning!

Harvest Day
I took the day off and Bobby ended up not having to work so it became a family affair. G was so excited because Harvest Day is when each child gets to choose and decorate a pumpkin AND the bigger thrill... petting zoo!! Georgie wanted to wear this super cute halloween set I got her. It really is adorable!

Usually they serve super healthy and mostly organic food at Georgie's school. But, for Harvest Day they had a special snack: Pumpkin Pop Tarts. G's never had a pop tart. She was pretty impressed :-)

G quickly picked the perfect pumpkin

Not a bad picture of Mommy and G

A few of the kids were apprehensive about being around the animals. This was not an issue for Georgie who loves small fluffy creatures more than anything in the world. She could hold bunnies and pet bunnies all day.

Georgie kept saying "mommy, I want to hold a chicken"... those little buggers were hard to catch ;-)

Brett's been working at Georgie's school a bit so he popped in for a few minutes
