"Santa Claus is coming..."
"two times." This is how G sings the song "Santa Claus is coming to Town" I always tell her "to town" and she smiles, bobs her head up and down in agreement then repeats "Santa Claus is coming two times" ... cracks me up!!

So, last year, G was not a Santa fan. Not by any stretch of the imagination. Here's last year's pic:
We'd only been home a few days at the time last year but I really wanted a santa pic from her first christmas. Basically, we sat her on his lap, jumped back, camera snap, then we grabbed the terrified baby as quickly as possible. The entire santa visit lasted about oh, 10 secs tops. Well, the standing in line to see santa part took about an hour but I digress a bit. I felt guilty about it but she was fine within another 10 secs so...

But this year was a whole new thing. G has been soooo excited about santa. We started about a month ago reading santa stories and talking about santa or as G says "sana caws." Then, in november when we did our thanksgiving photos, santa was already there doing xmas shots. He was super nice to her and visited a bit. I had high hopes that she would still be liking santa a few weeks later when we were scheduled to our xmas photos. Instead of waiting in the horrendous santa line I decided to do them at the local studio with the number one reason being ability to make an appt!!

Guess what?? she still loved santa!!! He was a super nice and calm santa too. Plus, he remembered Georgie from a few weeks before. I think its a bit unusual for a child this age, 23 mos, to be so comfortable around santa but I'm thrilled!!! Here are the pix:

This is G hugging santa as tight as she can complete with a grunting noise to show she was using all her strength! Kiss for santa. Not actually the greatest pic of G of course but his expression is so funny.

So then, crazy mom I am, I had two outfits. The dressy one above for the santa pix and a super cute casual one for just G alone and to wear on christmas day. I actually decided to go back for a second sitting a few days later so we could try going first thing in the morning. It worked out great!! No one was there yet and we were able to get some super cute pix in just a few minutes. G's starting to really get the hang of this photo thing which is good cuz in the past she has been super difficult to photograph.

Here are the casual ones:

This my absolute favorite of the group. I just love this picture of my beautiful, beautiful girl.

G is really excited about christmas and santa and keeps talking about leaving him a cookie and milk. I still don't think she understands completely about presents but I have no doubt she'll figure it out quickly. So fun!!!

The Princess and the Frog
Georgie had never been to a movie. I thought it would be fun to make her first visit somewhat of an event so when I saw a commercial a few mos ago for a special showing of the new Disney movie I thought that seemed like a lot of fun!! and of course we had to get an outfit to go along with the theme. Lots of the girls were wearing various princess outfits but I decided it would be fun to play up the frog theme--G loves frogs!!! The hairbow is awesome! Its huge and has a frog, princess and a little castle in it! G really liked it.

The movie was at the Disney studio lot in Burbank. I guess they did another event in New York somewhere also. It was raining... hard!!! But, it was so fun!!! We watched the movie which was pretty good I thought. Truthfully, I probably spent half the movie watching G watch the movie. She was so darn cute. When the lights first went down she was really surprised and said "dark. what happened?" She watched the movie for the most part but did start to get a bit wiggly near the end. Nothing a little popcorn couldn't handle. I'm not sure G had ever had popcorn before but boy did she like it!!!!

Then after the movie they directed us to a studio where the princesses --all 9 of them, advertised as being the only event where all 9 princesses have been featured--were available for photos!!! Except for the new princess, Tiana, whose line was pretty long --think 15 mins-- the lines were usually only a few kids long and sometimes there was no line at all. G visited with each princess for at least a minute or so where they sweetly talked to her about the movie, who was her favorite princess and how cute her outfit was and then she gave each princess a hug. Surprisingly, G is not at all frightened by the characters. Instead she really likes them!!

Near the end of the event, families had begun to clear out and the princesses were pretty much just standing alone on their pretty individual stages and the few girls left would go up and talk to them. G spent a few minutes dancing with The Beauty and the Beast's Belle who seemed to be her favorite. Unfortunately, G still pretty much refused to smile for pix, she smiles after. Ugh.

They also had some activities set up including a little playground/obstacle course area filled with foam blocks and a couple frog themed carnival games. Again, G loved it!!

It was a super fun day.

Georgie Day!!!
One year ago today...
Bobby and I waited in a conference room in the Gloria Hotel in Nanchang, China nervously anticipating the arrival of our little girl. I was so scared and excited and happy. I can vividly recall my inability to breath as I leaned over the bannister and saw her coming up the circular stairway in her brown, puffy, puppy oufit. They quickly placed her in my arms and, in a blink, she was our daughter!!

The last year with Georgie has not all been completely smooth sailing of course. There have been some challenges. But, overall, having G in my life has been as great as I imagined it would be. Which is pretty impressive!!

Bobby and I comment almost daily about how lucky we feel to have been matched with this particular little girl. She is perfect for our family in every way. What a personality she has!!! She's smart, funny, and full of energy. Truth be told, she's a bit stubborn and can often be quite the little stinker!!! The perfect Crowell!!

Georgiana is now exactly 23 mos old so I thought I'd create a list of 23 things that are great about Georgie and getting to be her mommy:

1. Her beautiful smile
2. The fact that I have hair clippies in every room of the house. I even have a yellow princess one on my desk at work. I'm not sure why :-)
3. I finally have a reason to go down the "girl" toy aisles at the stores.
4. Spider monkey hugs
5. The way she runs. When she's going really fast she puts her arms back behind her. I think its her calculate way of reducing drag ;-)
6. Her laugh. Its nothing short of hearty. Deep and free.
7. When she gives me flowers that she's picked for me on her walks.
8. Rocking her and singing her songs at bedtime
9. Getting to read her bedtime stories. All my old fav's are brand new to her!
10. The way her hair smells after a bath.
11.Her hair. Its so soft!
12. Her boundless energy. I admit it often wears me out!
13.The way she covers her mouth when she laughs.
14. The fact that she loves her brothers so much and they love her.
15. Hearing her yell "yeah Georgie!!" when she's proud of herself for something like using the potty!
16. How fun it is to buy her clothes and shoes--she looks so beautiful in everything the only hard part is limiting my purchases.
17. Watching her learn.
18. The cute little way she says "scared" when something frightens her... which is all the time. She's quite the little chicken.
19. That she LOVES to talk on the phone, especially to telemarkers.
20. Seeing her chill with daddy on the couch. She loves her daddy.
21. The little pile of twigs, leaves and rocks she has in the garage from collecting them on her walks.
22.The fact that she always says "bless you" whenever she hears anyone sneezes
23. Hearing her say "I love you!"

We celebrated Georgie Day by going to PF Changs. G loved it!!! She ate daddy's egg flower soup, 5 big shrimp, some mongolian beef, and tons of rice. For as skinny as she is she can sure put the food away. She was so funny too because when I got home from work I told her we were going to celebrate "Georgie Day." Then she spent the rest of the evening yelling "happy Georgie day!!" while wearing a giant smile to anyone who would listen including our waitress at the restaraunt.

Cutest girl ever!
